Gospel highlight

Pastor, I get visited by Mormons regularly. Other than "go away" what can I say?

I get this great question this week. If you get into conversation with a Mormon, you might find that a challenge. They are smart and well-educated. There are no quick and easy answers.

One thing I shared was this: a big push among Mormons is to be perfect. "Be ye perfect" is a common instruction. Here is a good example https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/cecil-o-samuelson/be-ye-therefore-perfect/.

But never once does the message get said, "Jesus did it for you. He was perfect for you."

So next time you chat with a Mormon, you can say, "How is that going for you?" Listen to what they say and then share, "let me tell you about someone who was perfect".

That's good news.

Prayer request

Let's pray for Mia and Sophie who we are going to publicly recognize for their baptism this week

Triune God, in the precious waters of baptism you give us life. We leave behind our old lives and family and join the people of God. We praise you for rescuing Mia and Sophie and making them your children. Draw them closer to you as they walk through life.  May their journey with Jesus be precious in your sight.

In your saving name!

Amen.
